And that is basically what the DJI Phantom FC40 quadcopter is all about, with a few extras on board, too.
In this case, the camera takes 720p/30fps HD video, which you can view in real-time on your phone or tablet (iOS and Android) from up to 980 feet away. The flyability requirement is also met by the FC40, as it’s perfectly happy to auto-hover, and the 5.8GHz Wi-Fi control handset has a range of 1640 feet (¼ mile). Also packed into that white-and-red exterior is a GPS system, which can guide the Phantom back to a safe spot in case of any problems.
